Disaster response teams
The increasing frequency of natural disasters is presenting new challenges for disaster management worldwide.
Earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, large-scale wildfires and other extreme events are increasingly destroying entire infrastructures. Roads collapse, bridges are destroyed, mountainsides slide, and entire communities are cut off from the outside world.
As a result, emergency responders often work in areas with limited infrastructure—potentially without vehicles and relying solely on airlifts for supplies.
In a crisis, disaster response personnel may need to transport large quantities of equipment over long distances—under extreme conditions such as heat and heavy rain—across rough terrain to reach those in need.
These situations are never predictable, and motorized vehicles may not be usable at all. However, first responders must arrive at the scene physically and mentally fit. The enormous amount of equipment significantly reduces the mobility, work capacity, and endurance of first responders when carried on the body, while at the same time every minute can mean the difference between life and death.
The Monowalker Fatmate directly addresses this structural problem. Instead of bearing the entire load on the spine and joints, a large portion of the equipment is transferred to the single-track, fully off-road capable, foldable expedition trailer, the Monowalker Fatmate.
The Monowalker Fatmate carries 50–70% of the equipment load. The equipment reliably follows the team – independent of external power, robust, with puncture-proof tires, and operational even in damaged, rugged terrain. The special Z-geometry ensures self-stabilizing tracking – even under heavy loads and on difficult terrain. The Monowalker Carbon SL-X Packframe pulls the Monowalker Fatmate over the hip belt.
Transporting critical equipment on the “last mile”
The Monowalker Fatmate enables the efficient transport of:
- Recovery equipment and rescue supplies
- Medical first aid kits and collapsible stretchers for the injured
- Water and emergency rations for several days
- Communication and coordination equipment
- Drones for reconnaissance
- Personal protective equipment
Modularly organized in packs and boxes, and additionally mountable on the Monowalker SL-X Carbon Packframe. It closes the gap when vehicles can go no further.
