Firefighters, wildfirefighters, helitack crews, smokejumpers
Global warming is leading to increasingly devastating wildfires and brush fires, posing extreme physical challenges for firefighters worldwide. In the USA, Italy, and France, emergency responders often work in remote, difficult-to-access areas – far from vehicles and infrastructure. They cut firebreaks, fight fires directly on the front line, and secure fire lines – often in high temperatures and dense smoke.
Wildfirefighters regularly carry 40–70 kg of equipment over distances of 10–20 km. In addition to tools, this includes water, food, protective clothing, communication equipment, and sometimes drones for reconnaissance, depending on whether they are part of the hotshot crew, helitack crew, or smokejumper team. This enormous load significantly reduces mobility, operational capacity, and endurance – and increases the risk of injury in addition to the inherent dangers of fire, heat, and smoke.
The Monowalker Fatmate directly addresses this structural problem.
Instead of bearing the entire load on the spine and joints, a large portion of the equipment is transferred to the single-track, fully off-road capable, foldable expedition trailer, which carries 50–70% of the equipment load. The Monowalker SL Carbon Packframe pulls the Monowalker Fatmate. The Monowalker “Batwings” on the SL-X Carbon Packframe can accommodate individual pieces of equipment, such as a hard case, oxygen cylinder, etc.
Tools, water, breathing apparatus, and supply equipment reliably follow the team members—power-independent, robust, puncture-proof, even in challenging terrain. The special Z-geometry ensures self-stabilizing tracking, even under heavy loads.
